For the second straight offseason Oregon managed to keep their head coach from leaving for the NFL.
After interviewing with the Cleveland Browns and the Philadelphia Eagles, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly discovered where his heart truly is. Fortunately for the Oregon Ducks, Kelly does not have the heart to leave the college game at this time. According to reports, Kelly has decided to stick with Oregon instead of continuing to pursue an opportunity to coach at the next level.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, whofirst reported the decision to stay with Oregon, Kelly was interested in the Eagles but was uneasy leaving the Ducks.
Last year Kelly nearly accepted a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers before having second thoughts and opting to stay in Eugene, Oregon. The Bucs later signed Greg Schiano, former head coach of Rutgers, for the job. Still, it appeared to be just a matter of time before Kelly would leave Oregon for the NFL. Kelly has never coached in the NFL but his success at the college level with a unique approach on offense will continue to keep him a popular name in some coaching rumor mills moving forward.

The state of Pennsylvania will file an anti-trust lawsuit against the NCAA, seeking a dismissal of all Penn State sanctions levied last summer. Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett claimed the NCAA has operated beyond their authority in punishing Penn State following the release of the Freeh Report, an independent investigation paid for by Penn State’s Board of Trustees to detail the responses taken in the Jerry Sandusky scandal.

In addition, Penn State was forced to vacate over 100 wins from the NCAA record books, a move regarded by some as a way to punish and tarnish the reputation of former head football coach Joe Paterno, who has been tied to the Sandusky scandal along with former university president, athletic director and official.
“They punished past, present and future students, student athletes, local residents and citizens of Pennsylvania,” Corbett said. “I found myself asking the question: ‘Why would the NCAA involve themselves in something already being handled in the courts?”
